Alabama Power's solar guidance separates two questions that a sales estimate can blur: what a household pays for continued electric service and what it receives for excess power. The utility points customers to its RGB rider for supplementary, backup and maintenance power and to separate purchase arrangements for exported energy. These are Alabama Power arrangements, not a rule for every Alabama utility.
A homeowner asking why an electric bill remains deserves a conversation grounded in their own provider and agreement. Start with the estimate they were shown, the bills they now receive and the questions their installer has answered or left unresolved. The presence of a charge alone does not establish wrongdoing.
